Easter Egg Hunt
Even though both my sister and I have stopped believing in the Easter bunny we continue to go on Easter Egg Hunts. Each Easter morning before we make our entrance you can hear Dad walking all over the house opening and closing closet doors and moving furniture around to find the most difficult hiding spots for this year's hunt. Because he spends so much energy finding these spots he can't always helps us find the eggs when we have given up. This often causes the hunt to go on for months if not years before we find every egg.
As we have gotten older the eggs' contents have become more exciting and less sweet. This year we found dollar bills in the eggs which motivated my sister to race around ahead of me finding the eggs as quickly as possible without giving me much of a chance to compete. Some years we find eggs from the previous Easter and just about every year we forget and stumble upon the drawer which provides storage for the collection of plastic eggs during the off season. This always yields the shout, "I've hit the jackpot!" even though we know these eggs are empty.
As Rebecca and I search high and low, you can hear my Dad giggling and even cackling. At least once a year though he has to shout to my Mom over the commotion, "Isn't this great?"
We know that this tradition is as much for them as it is for us and the best part is that none of us want to move past it :)
